Programme for the 2017/2018 season

At each location  visited we will learn a little about its history and the organ, which will be demonstrated by the resident organist or by a short recital given by one of our members.   Members will then usually have the opportunity to play the organ.  Tea or Coffee will be served.  Full details will be given in the Newsletter preceding the event, all of which will have a theme.

Monday  September 18th, 7:30pm. St Giles' Wrexham . Composite recital by members

Monday  October 9th, 7:30pm. Church of the Good Shepherd Heswall.  2M & Pedal Rushworth and Dreaper organ built in the 1971.  Roger Fisher was the consultant .  Open console. NPOR entry

Saturday November 4th, 1:00pm - 4:00pm. Christ Church, Newtown, Chester.  Illustrated talk / presentation by Alan Thurlow, Chairman of the British Institute of Organ Studies. BIOS website.

Saturday December 2nd, 2:00pm. Christ Church LLanfairfechan. 3M & Pedal organ based on 2M  &Pedal organ by Hill..  Open console.  This organ has a BIOS grade 1 historic organ certificate. NPOR ENtry

Satuday January 27th 2018,  1:30pm - 4:30pm. Organ workshop on accompaniment, registration "tricks of the trade" and sight reading. Led by Graham Eccles.  Venue to be confirmed.

Monday February 12th, 7:30pm.  Christ Church Port Sunlight. 4M & Pedal Willis II organ. Open Console.  NPOR entry 

Saturday March 10th,  2:00pm-4:00pm.  Hoole Methodist Church.  Singing workshop led by Enid Whittle.

Tuesday April 17th, 7:30pm.  Chester Cathedral. Details of the activity to be confirmed.

May Date and venue to be confirmed.  20th Anniversary celebrations.

Tuesday June 14th 7:30pm.. Hoole Methodist Church, Chester.  AGM and open console.

September- Saturday 5th 2015 from 2:00pm – A opportunity to hear and play two Willis organs  in West Kirby.  West Kirby Methodist Church and St Bridget's Church.   Arranged by Brian Moate and Paul Marriott.

September - Monday 28th 2015 at 7.30pm -  A visit to  the historic church of  St Eurgain & St Peter Northop
(CH7 6BQ).  We shall learn something of the history of the church and Phil Wendt, the resident organist, will introduce and demonstrate the organ to us before opening the console for members to play.

October Saturday 24th 2pm St Mary the Virgin Eccleston

November Saturday 28th 2015 at 12 noon - Visit to Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral 

December  12th 2015  2:00pm -  Visit to hear and play the Binns organ in Sussex Street Christian Centre, Rhyl. 

January Saturday 30th 2016 , 2.30pm - Visit Liverpool Anglican Cathedral.

March Monday 7th 2016, 7:30pm - Joint social meeting with Liverpool Association.

April Tuesday 26th 2016, 7.30pm -  Chester Cathedral.

May 30th May, 7.30pm -  St Asaph Cathedral

June 14th June  (Tuesday) 7:00pm  AGM and Diner with guest speaker, David Wells.  Chester Golf Club

SEPTEMBER - Saturday 6 from 11.00am – A opportunity to hear and play two Norman & Beard organs in Thornton Hough restored by Willis.  All Saint’s Parish Church, CH63 1JP at 11.00am and St. George’s URC, CH63 1JJ  at 1.45pm.   Arranged by Iain Stinson.

SEPTEMBER - Monday 29 at 7.30pm. A return visit to St. Peter’s Church, Village Road Waverton, Nr. Chester, CH3 7QN, with its Willis/Sixsmith two manual organ to be demonstrated by resident organist Richard Morgan-Jones, then an open console session.

OCTOBER – Saturday 25 at 2.30pm – St. Mary, Dodleston, CH4 9NT

NOVEMBER - Saturday 29 at 2.30pm – Church of the Holy Spirit, Ewloe, CH5 3BF

DECEMBER - Monday 15 at 7.30pm - Christmas Social with Carols at Our Lady of the Rosary, Buckley,  CH7 2BF

JANUARY – Monday 26 at 5.30pm - Chester Cathedral

FEBRUARY - Saturday 28 at 2.30pm  - St. Laurence,  Church Road, Frodsham, WA6 6AD Ken Fayle to demonstrate the organ then Open Console.

MARCH -  Saturday 28 at 2.30pm – Come & Sing with Philip Stopford. Hamilton St. Methodist Church.

APRIL – Monday 27 at 7.30pm –  Composite recital in St. Asaph Cathedral followed by an open console

MAY – Monday 25 at 7.30pm – Composition with Philip Stopford. Hamilton St. Methodist Church.

JUNE – Tuesday 23 at 7.00pm AGM and Diner (Guest speaker Professor Ian Tracey), Upton-by-Chester Golf Club,  CH2 1EE

JULY – Monday 20 at 7.30pm – St. David’s Church, Pantasaph.  Keith Edwards will give the history of the Poyser 2 manual organ and tell of the work he did to restore it.
