Membership

The Chester & North-East Wales Organists’ & Choirmasters’ Association (CNEWOCA for short) exists to promote the organ and its repertoire and to provide events and forums for Organists, Choirmasters and all who enjoy listening to organ and choral music.  The Association was formed in May 1998 and the need for such an organisation has been borne out by the very large membership.  Events are held from September to July/August at different venues within West Cheshire, Wirral, Wrexham and Mold areas, with occasional events in Flintshire, Denbighshire and Conwy Borough.  Members receive a monthly Newsletter containing articles, details of the forthcoming event with directions to the venue, the dates, venues, etc., of events organised by or involving members and of organ recitals in Chester, Bangor and St. Asaph Cathedrals.

The Association is affiliated to the Incorporated Association of Organists enabling members to receive the Organist’s Review, delivered to their home each quarter, at a reduced price.

Membership (including Spouse) costs just £15.00 per annum (September to August) including the £4.00 I.A.O Affiliation Fee.  Young people, and those not in employment, pay only £9.00 per annum.

The Association’s Constitution requires all events to be open to the public, therefore a Retiring Collection is taken at each event. A donation, as an expression thanks, is given to the host church and this is a minimum of £30.00 and is increased to £40 from October to April to assist with heating costs.

Why not join this active organisation?  It is t
he perfect place to meet-up with friends, make new ones and to share their enthusiasm for the King of Instruments. Download and complete this application form and  post it, with your subscription, to our Membership Secretary.  Better still, come to our next event and bring it with you.

General Data protection Regulation (GDPR)

New data protection regulations cameinto force on 25th May 2018 that affect the way in which organisations can store and process personal data, including contact details. There are no exemptions for charities, even small charities.

The regulations require that we, CNEWOCA, and the Incorporated Association of Organists (IAO) to which we are affiliated, obtain and retain evidence from all members to show that explicit consent has been given for their personal data to be stored and processed in the way stated in a Data Privacy Notice,  which are posted on the respective websites.

Even though you may believe that you have already given permission to CNEWOCA to contact you simply by becoming a member, this is unlikely to be sufficient to meet the requirements of the new legislation.  To ensure that we are able to communicate with you once GDPR is  in effect, all members and prospective member must complete and return a consent form which you can print from the website.
